Bring a striking Himalayan sacred-art statement into your space with this 22-inch Vajrayogini statue from Gorkha, Nepal. Made in 2010, this sculpture features a solid copper body with gold and silver plating, combining warm golden surfaces with intricate silver-colored details.
Vajrayogini is revered in Vajrayana Buddhism as a supreme tantric dakini associated with wisdom and spiritual transformation. Her dynamic posture and ritual attributes express the powerful imagery of tantric Buddhist practice.
An elaborate flame aureole surrounds the figure, while detailed jewelry, flowing ornaments, and a layered lotus pedestal complete the composition.
DESIGN ELEMENTS & DETAILS
• Upward-looking face: Creates an expressive focal point beneath the ornate crown.
• Raised ritual cup: Held near her face, this traditional tantric attribute forms part of Vajrayogini’s sacred imagery.
• Curved ritual knife: Visible in her lowered hand, this attribute traditionally symbolizes cutting through ignorance and attachment.
• Ritual staff: Rises beside the figure, adding height and detail to the composition.
• Crown and body ornaments: Intricate headwear, earrings, necklaces, and draped chains contrast with the golden body.
• Dynamic stance: One leg bends while the other extends, giving the sculpture a strong sense of movement.
• Figures beneath her feet: Form part of the traditional imagery of overcoming obstacles on the spiritual path.
• Flame aureole: Frames the deity with curling patterns and a gold-colored flame border.
• Lotus pedestal: A broad, layered base with sculpted petals and patterned edging supports the composition.
