This is a high-quality, original hand-painted masterpiece, Chongpa Tibetan Thangka Painting. Je Tsongkhapa, also known as Chongapa, was a celebrated Tibetan religious philosopher between 1357 and 1419. He was the central figure of the Gelugpa sect, which was the dominant religious order in Tibet until the Chinese takeover in 1951. The Dalai Lama is currently the de facto leader of this sect.

Tsongkhapa developed a unique philosophy called Middle Way, which was based on the works of the Indian philosopher Nāgārjuna and the interpretation of Candrakīrti. He distinguished between the correct Consequentialist and the incorrect Autonomist interpretations of these works. Tsongkhapa's philosophy was heavily influenced by the Indo-Tibetan Buddhist logico-epistemological tradition, which Dignāga and Dharmakīrti founded.

Tsongkhapa believed that the ultimate truth was the emptiness of intrinsic existence, but he also emphasized the importance of conventional reality. He developed hermeneutics to uphold the authority of correct moral statements at the traditional level. His most influential writing reconciled the philosophy of emptiness with the imperative of praxis embodied in a universal altruistic principle.

Tsongkhapa placed great importance on tantric praxis without devaluing the centrality of ordinary moral life. He developed a unique analysis of dependent origination to support his assertion that entities are both conventional and ultimate truths. He is famous for wearing a tall yellow hat, which is associated with his teachings and contribution to the Gelugpa sect.
