This exquisite piece is an original, hand-painted Tibetan Thangka of Green Tara, a masterpiece. Green Tara, the most revered goddess in the Buddhist pantheon, embodies enlightened compassion and miraculous deeds of all the Buddhas. She extends her protection and aid to all who face challenges in their lives. Green Tara‘s vow to tirelessly work in a woman‘s body for the benefit of all sentient beings until suffering is eradicated makes her a beacon of safety and security in the Buddhist culture.

Green, the color of nature and vitality, is a critical symbol in Green Tara‘s depiction, reflecting her energetic and vibrant personality. She is always portrayed as a stunning and lively young woman with a hint of playfulness. Her teachings encourage us to adopt a light-hearted approach to life, reminding us of the joy that comes with a receptive mind and an open heart. Her blessings and wisdom naturally unfold in those embodying these qualities, making her a captivating figure.

Green Tara is often depicted in a graceful and relaxed posture, with her right leg extended, symbolizing her constant vigilance and readiness to assist those who call upon her. Her right hand is extended downwards, with her palm facing outwards and her thumb and index finger touching. This hand gesture, Varada Mudra, is a powerful symbol of granting wishes and protection. Her left hand is raised to shoulder height, with her fingers extended and her palm turned outward, representing the Abhaya Mudra —a gesture that symbolizes granting refuge and freedom from fear.
