Original hand-painted masterpiece — the Manjushri / Jampelyang 24 K Gold Tibetan Thangka Painting.

This extraordinary artwork stands as an epitome of artistic excellence, elevating the divine presence of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom.

Manjushri, also known as Jampelyang, embodies the omniscient wisdom fundamental to enlightenment. His essence lies in the discernment of the genuine nature of reality, distinguishing between truth and fallacy, guiding individuals towards beneficial actions on their spiritual journey. Bestowing the gifts of intelligence, knowledge, mastery of teachings, eloquence, and an unfaltering memory, he stands as the epitome of 'gentle glory,' revered for his divine wisdom.

In Nepal's rich folklore, Manjushri holds a profound significance, credited with enabling the foundation of civilization in the Kathmandu Valley. Moreover, he serves as the esteemed patron Bodhisattva of the Kadampa (Gelugpa) order in Tibetan Buddhism, renowned for its erudite scholars known as geshes.

Manifesting in the Thangka with profound symbolism, Manjushri's left-hand forms the Vitarka Mudra, symbolizing teaching and intellectual discourse. This hand cradles the stem of a lotus flower supporting the Prajnaparamita, signifying the Perfection of Wisdom sutra. The flaming sword wielded by his right hand represents the immense power of discriminating wisdom, capable of severing the ignorance that lies at the root of all human suffering.

In this depiction, Manjushri's wielding of the sword symbolizes not just the potency of wisdom but also the courage and unwavering dedication necessary to achieve liberation from ignorance, freeing individuals from the shackles of suffering.

This Thangka isn't merely a piece of art; it's a portal to the divine wisdom and transcendence depicted through the symbolic gestures and attributes of Manjushri, inviting individuals to connect with the essence of wisdom, courage, and enlightenment encapsulated within this mesmerizing masterpiece.

The Manjusri Nama Samgiti, known as the "Chanting the Names of Manjushri" sutra, is a revered scripture integral to all orders within Tibetan Buddhism. Comprising 160 verses, this scripture has inspired numerous lamas to pen enlightening commentaries, offering deeper insights into its rich verses.

Among these verses, Chapter 8 encapsulates the essence of Manjushri's multifaceted virtues, providing a glimpse into the profundity of the Bodhisattva's attributes:

(27) Describing Manjushri as the unparalleled leader and the supreme healer, capable of extracting the thorns of suffering, this verse symbolizes the Bodhisattva as a paradise tree, adorned with the healing properties of every medicinal herb. His mastery extends to combatting the illness of defilement, serving as its great adversary.

(29) Depicting Manjushri as the sole magnificent umbrella in existence, encompassing the circle of boundless love and compassion, this verse evokes imagery of the Bodhisattva as the glorious lord of the dance on the illustrious lotus, signifying his pervasive presence and protection akin to a jewel-studded umbrella.

(30) Portraying Manjushri as the supreme sovereign among all Buddhas, upholding the embodiment of their collective wisdom and virtues, this verse describes the Bodhisattva as the pinnacle of the great yoga and the bearer of instructions that resonates with the essence of all Buddhas.

These verses offer a glimpse into the majestic persona of Manjushri, symbolizing not only his unparalleled wisdom but also his compassionate and protective nature. The Manjusri Nama Samgiti serves as a reservoir of spiritual knowledge, inviting devotees to delve into the multifaceted teachings encapsulated within the verses, offering profound insights into the exalted Bodhisattva and its significance in Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
