Original Hand painted Hevajra Yab-Yum with consert Nairatmya Newari Paubha/ Tibetan Thanka / Thangka / Painting Vajrayana Tantra Art
This is an original hand-painted Hevajra with his concert Nairatmya Newari Paubha/Thangka painting. Hevajra is one of the main yidams (enlightened beings) in Tantric or Vajrayana Buddhism. He is a fierce protective deity, the yab-yum (in union with his female consort, Nairatmya) form of the fierce protective deity Heruka. Hevajra is a popular deity in Tibet, where he belongs to the yidam (tutelary, or guardian, deity) class. His worship is the subject of the Hevajra Tantra.
Hevajra is represented in art as blue in color, with a headdress of skull crowns topped by a figure of the buddha Akshobhya. He is characteristically shown with 8 heads, 4 legs, and 16 arms. The arms on the left hold skull cups containing various divinities, the ones on the right their steeds. A multiarmed form of Hevajra, but without his female consort, is found in Cambodia and Thailand.
