Universally venerated across all branches of Buddhism, Chenrezig is hailed as the patron Bodhisattva of Tibet, his revered presence extending even beyond Buddhist realms, as evidenced by the widespread familiarity with his powerful mantra, 'Om Mani Padme Hum.'

Embodying an unwavering commitment to alleviating suffering, Chenrezig courageously vowed to persist in his compassionate efforts as long as a single being remains ensnared in the cycle of samsara. In this depiction, Chenrezig manifests with four arms, symbolizing his constant, whirlwind-like activity in the world. Two hands clasped together at his heart hold the wish-fulfilling jewel of enlightenment, the Chintamani, capable of materializing the deepest aspirations of devoted seekers and signifying the profound teachings and virtues of the Buddha. This posture also conveys Chenrezig's deep reverence for Buddha Amitabha.

His upper right hand delicately holds a crystal mala, or Buddhist rosary, symbolizing the ceaseless counting that represents his continuous, compassionate engagement in the world. Meanwhile, in his upper left hand, he presents a resplendent lotus flower in full bloom. Much like the lotus blossoms untainted in muddy waters, Chenrezig manifests amidst the world's suffering, yet remains untouched by the stains of samsaric conditions. His blooming lotus serves as a metaphor, inspiring us to nurture our inherent compassion despite the challenges of worldly existence.

At the heart level on Chenrezig’s left side, the serene face of a gentle wild deer emerges, its skin draped over his shoulder. The deer’s skin, historically a symbol of renunciation, metaphorically conveys his renouncement of worldly entanglements. Moreover, it symbolizes Chenrezig's boundless compassion for all sentient beings. Legend recounts a poignant story where Chenrezig incarnated as a wild deer. Even in the face of a pursuing hunter, his compassion was so profound that he willingly surrendered his life, a testament to his infinite benevolence."
