Hand painted Master Quality Ganesha/ Ganapati/ Vinayaka/ Destroyer of Obstacle Newari Paubha/Thangka Painting with Premium Silk Brocade
Ganesh, also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, or simply Ganesha, is a popular deity worshiped by Hindus and Buddhists in Nepal. He is regarded as the remover of obstacles, and people often pray to him before beginning an auspicious work or enterprise in the hope of accomplishing it without any hindrances. Ganesh is usually depicted riding on a white mouse and has an elephant face. He wears a sacred thread made of a snake and has four arms. He carries a trisula and a laddu (sweet ball) in his right hand, a parasu (axe), and a radish in his left hand.
This painting is an original, hand-painted, master-quality Newari Paubha or Thangka painting of Ganesh. The Paubha is similar to the Thangka painting but originated from the Newari communities of the Kathmandu valley. Ganesh is the son of Shiva and Parvati, and his form is described in Sadhanamala and Nispannayogavali.
According to a legend, Kumara or Kartikeyya once challenged Ganesh to circumambulate the world. The winner would be worshipped by the people first. Kartikeya traveled the world several times with his vehicle peacock and was about to report this to Lord Shiva and Parvati when Ganesh, thinking he would not be able to circumambulate the world with his tiny vehicle, came up with a different idea. He began to circumambulate around Lord Shiva and Parvati thrice.
Finally, the Ganesh mantra is "Om Gam Ganapataya Namah."
